Nicks, dents, flaws - our B-goods of Stephania Erecta are a little out of shape. If you have a heart for imperfect plants, these tubers might be something for you. After planting, they develop into a shoot with delicate, round leaves that contrast beautifully with the robust structure of the tuber.

Planting: When planting Stephania Erecta, be sure to place the tuber the right way up in the soil or substrate! The dried fine roots with the flatter side come down, the slightly more pointed side, which often has a small knob, up. About 20 percent of the tuber goes under the soil, the rest peeks out. As soil we recommend cactus / succulent soil, because it dries faster!

Humidity: If you do not have naturally high humidity (such as in the bathroom) or use a humidifier, we recommend a plastic bag for the drive. Once you have planted the tuber, water the soil around the tuber a little (!) and then put a plastic bag over the whole thing to increase the humidity. As soon as leaves sprout, the bag is no longer necessary.

Watering: Do not water the soil on the tuber but only around it, otherwise the tuber may rot away! Therefore, the planter should be large enough and leave enough substrate around the tuber. In summer, watering should be once or twice a week, in winter the leaves retreat and it is enough to water the Stephania a little once a month.

Habitat: Stephania Erecta enjoys a bright location without direct midday sun in summer.

Note: Our tubers come from a dealer who artificially propagates the plants. They are not wild collections!
