The Monstera Deliciosa, also known as the window leaf, is a classic among houseplants. It is native to the tropics of South America. The large, heart-shaped leaves are naturally slit; the slits are also known as windows, hence the name. The variegated and rarer version of this is called Monstera deliciosa 'Albo Variegata' (MDV) and is a real specialty.

The characteristic feature of the Monstera deliciosa Albo Variegata is the white variegation on the leaves, i.e. the green leaves are covered with a white, irregular pattern that varies from leaf to leaf. Like the green version, the Monstera Deliciosa Variegata is also a houseplant that likes to climb, so it should be given support in the form of climbing aids, moss sticks, etc. Due to the white variegation, this plant is a little more demanding than the green version, but the care is generally very similar.

Location: If the plant stands too dark or is watered too much, the white areas quickly turn brown. Direct midday sun should also be avoided at all costs, so that the white leaf areas do not burn. A bright location, without direct sun, is therefore best. The brighter the plant, the more intense the variegation.

Water requirements: Water only when the top layer of soil is thoroughly dry. The best way to check this is to stick your finger a few centimeters deep into the soil.

Humidity: Average to slightly increased, 50%-70%. Do not spray the leaves with water, otherwise the light areas may turn brown.

Toxicity: Consumption is toxic!
