Ctenanthe Burle-Marxii 'Amabilis' is striking for its contrasting leaf coloration and decorative leaf pattern. The tops of the leaves are light green to light turquoise and covered with a dark green herringbone pattern. The undersides of the leaves are colored a rich purple. The similarity to Calathea, Stromanthe, and Maranta is not coincidental; all belong to the Marantaceae family. In their needs they are similar, but the Ctenanthe is comparatively simple. This offer is a Ctenanthe Burle-Marxii 'Amabilis' baby plant in a small planter with 6cm diameter.

A characteristic feature of the Marantaceae family is the pulvinus, a thickened area in the lower part of the leaf that can cause movement. Here there are articulated pads between the leaf stalks and the base of the blade to ensure that the leaf blade is always oriented towards the light during the course of the day. Specialized cells control leaf movement. This is why the plants are also known as prayer plants. Light requirements: Partial shade to bright, without direct sunlight. Water requirements: The soil should always be kept slightly (!) moist. Humidity: Slightly higher (from approx. 50 percent). Toxicity: While the Calathea is considered non-toxic, the Ctenanthe is described in different ways, ranging from non-toxic to slightly toxic.
