Anthurium Veitchii is also called the king anthurium. And rightly so! The heart-shaped, elongated leaves are interspersed with a distinctive wavy pattern and can grow up to a meter long. A mature specimen of this species is the highlight of any plant collection.

In its native land, the Central and South American rainforest, the anthurium grows as an epiphyte (a plant that grows on other plants) and clings to the branches of trees with its aerial roots. The high humidity, frequent rains and free-flowing air help this plant stay moisturized without getting soaked. Anthurium Veitchii likes constant warm temperatures from 18 degrees Celsius and does not do well with cold.

Location: A warm location with bright indirect light would be ideal. Direct midday sun will quickly cause burning. While Anthurium Veitchii likes moderate to higher humidity above 50 percent, it should not be sprayed as the velvety leaves are susceptible to fungal diseases. If your area is drier, you can place a wide container of water under/next to the plant for evaporation or use a humidifier.

Substrate: The substrate should be airy and dry quickly. You can find our substrate for arum plants here.

Watering: Let substrate dry a few centimeters before watering.

Toxicity: Like all arum plants, anthuriums are toxic when eaten.
