The Stephania Glabra is the big sister of the well-known Stephania Erecta and belongs to the caudex plants. The so-called caudex is the plant's broadened, tough shoot axis, into which it can retreat in times of drought. This ensures the survival of the plants in extreme habitats such as deserts.

Like all Stephania, this species consists of a large, round tuber from which emerges a tender shoot that produces round leaves. The contrast between the bulbous tuber and the tender leaves is what makes this plant so appealing! In addition, Stephania Glabra grows much larger than Stephanie Erecta. Like its little sister, this species goes through a dormant period in the winter when it sheds its leaves.

Habitat: Bright and sunny, in summer also possible sheltered outdoors, but not in full sun.

Water requirements: Water about 1-2x per week during the growing season, and a maximum of 1x per month during the dormant season.

Humidity: Slightly increased.

Substrate: Loose, well-drained soil (e.g. cactus soil). In the growing season can be fertilized weakly (!).

Toxicity: Toxic!

Note: Our tubers come from a dealer who artificially propagates the plants. They are not wild collections!
