Special features of Philodendron ‘Florida Beauty’

The Philodendron ‘Florida Beauty’ is a rare, variegated form with deeply lobed leaves and creamy white to yellowish variegation. As a baby plant, it often still shows a simpler leaf shape and less pronounced cuts, but over time it develops its typical, highly textured look.

Origin & Botanical Background

‘Florida Beauty’ is based on the hybrid Philodendron ‘Florida’, which originated from Philodendron pedatum and Philodendron squamiferum.

The variegated form is a mutation/selection, not a separately documented new cross.

Growth Habit & Size

  • Climbing with support
  • Compact when young, later spreading
  • 80–150 cm possible (taller with a moss pole)
  • Strongly lobed leaves with maturity

Visual Development

  • Young plants: less lobed, often narrower leaves
  • With each leaf: stronger segmentation
  • Variegation becomes more stable and often more contrasting

Special Features

  • Combination of unusual leaf shape and variegation
  • Every leaf is unique
  • Very high collector’s value

Fun Fact

The typical “Florida” leaf shape often only develops after several new leaves—so young plants look more understated.
