Dossinia mamorata is sometimes found in the trade under the name Macodes petola 'Tiger Eye' and is characterized by a darker leaf color and a significantly higher proportion of glistening leaf veins. In the center of the leaf, the light green leaf color comes through somewhat. In the light, the leaves offer a stunning play of color that is second to none!

Dossinia mamorata belongs to the so-called jewel orchids. These are orchids with striking leaves that grow in the ground (most orchids grow in the air - epiphytic). As a result, they are near the ground in the shade of other plants.

Therefore, for the care of jewel orchids in the apartment is sufficient semi-shaded to bright place without direct sun, the substrate (a mixture of fine bark and sphagnum moss) should always be kept slightly moist. It does not tolerate cold. Keeping it in a glass or terrarium is especially easy, as this way the humidity is higher and watering is needed less often.
