Our Alocasia macrorrhiza Aurea Variegata is still a young plant, but it can grow to a stately size. Since its leaves can also become very large, it is also called giant-leaved arrowleaf or Giant-Taro.

What is the difference between an Alocasia macrorrhiza and an Alocasia gageana?

The two plants are very similar as young plants, but as they get older, the sinus of Alocasia gageana is closed, while the sinus of Alocasia macrorrhiza is open - that is, slit. Our plants are still young, but you can see that the sinus is becoming more open with new leaves. Over time, Alocasia macrorrhiza grows much taller than Gageana, reaching heights of up to eight meters in nature, but rarely exceeds two meters in homes.
